School Profile

Deer Park West Primary School is located in Deer Park, an established area in Western Suburbs of Melbourne. We have a diverse multicultural community and many of our students speak additional languages. We have an enthusiastic and professional staff with a range of experienced, accomplished and graduate teachers. Education Support staff work alongside teachers to facilitate teaching and learning. Education programs are based on the Victorian Curriculum with a strong emphasis on Literacy and Numeracy. Mathematics and English Learning Specialists coach all staff across the school to build skills and expertise in teaching and learning. Our Wellbeing staff include a school Social Worker and Speech Pathologist, in addition to Literacy Intervention teachers, who provide targeted additional learning support to students. Our School Improvement Team, Team Leaders and instructional coaches work with students and teachers to ensure that there is a focus on continuous improvement and learning for all. To enhance learning, students have access to a range of technology including computers, Interactive whiteboards and iPads.

We acknowledge the importance of developing the 'whole child' and therefore we provide an enriching specialist program that includes: Physical Education, Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Chinese (Mandarin), and extra curricula activities such as lunch time clubs.

Our school motto "Pride in Achievement," is reflected in everything we do at Deer Park West Primary School and applies to students, staff and the broader school community. Our wellbeing philosophy is based on restorative practices, supported by the School Wide Positive Behaviour Support framework.
